Day 15, Wednesday 14th April.

Exhausted from all our previous efforts and maybe the booze, we had a day off from our adventure.
As I always say having fun is much harder work than work.
Molly has deigned to notice a very scary looking dog next door. Looks like a huge wolfhound but with short fur.
She introduced herself by walking up to where he was sitting, squatting down and peeing in front of him.
Ever the refined lady. Can’t imagine where she gets it from.
Checked out the local port and Andy couldn’t resist the seafood special at a local restaurant.
Spaghetti Vongole (with garlic, chilli and clams).
Followed by Squid in ink sauce with polenta. Tasted delish but looked like hell on a plate.
Thought immediately of my sister Alli who is very squeamish, she would have heaved on the spot.
Planning our first visit to Venice tomorrow, by boat!

  1. Hi,
You sound as though you are having such a brilliant time. I wish I was there. The pictures are stunning and I am very jealous. You should turn your adventures into a book. The weather in sunny Alverstoke is gorgeous today. The garden has erupted into wonderful colours and smells. Stunning!!! You sound as though you have mastered the language which is great. Have a great weekend and keep enjoying yourselves. LOL Ann xxxx

  3. Sirs, it is my pleasure to inform you the garden at 33A is looking most agreeable. I am sure Mr Douglas will be thrilled to know his water feature has been given considerable attention and now glistens in the spring sunshine. Please be so good as to inform Miss Molly her lawn has been cut. She will be most perturbed, however, to learn of the mischief caused by the pigeons to the grass seed sown on her little brown patches. There is still goings on behind the wood shed, but I predict they will soon come to a sticky end. In all other respects Mr Turner will be particularly delighted to hear there is much thickening growth and spurting forth. I trust you will continue to enjoy the mountain airs without further mishap. Yours, Mellors.

  4. Hi Guys and Molly,
The garden at no 33 is equally as agreeable as the one being looked after by 'Mellors'. In fact, I believe the garden is a 'selling' point for the house thanks to 'Rob and Andy's' input, design and help. One offer 'rejected' but plenty of interested people. Good job that we are not planning to visit anytime soon as travel ion general abroad is in chaos thanks to the Volcanic Eruption in iceland. Please......... get a picture taken of all three of you. Weather today is again fabulous. Warm and not a 'puff' of wind to be had. Wayne was hoping to go sailing but has taken the bike out instead. Well I must attend to all those chores that I hate, cleaning, ironing, cooking etc etc. Jason sends his love. Miss you all.
    Ann et al xxxxxx

  5. Dear Molly - hello Gascoigne calling. Just to say that did the Alver Valley walk with Hilary this weekend, and all is in order! The stagnant pool you love so much is just as you would wish - pungent and murky! I rolled around in it because I was so hot, having just played ball with Hils. Then I got out and squirmed all around on the woodland floor - this resulted in me looking like a walking decoupage installation and necessitated me having to endure a shampoo and set when I got home - which rather undid all the benefits of the pool and leaf litter! Tsk - when will these humans learn! Found fresh deer poo - which got me all excited - but no sign of the pesky deer!

Mellors has been doing the garden for you - but I am not allowed to inspect his handywork, or to do my bit to quell the goings on behind the woodshed. Again - these humans. I could be so efficient if they could stop being squeamish.

Well - will sign off now and Hils want to use the computer!

    Lots of love - Gascoigne!
